The Uttar Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Yojana represents a flagship skill development initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, designed to transform the state’s vast youth population into a skilled and employable workforce. Managed by the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM), this comprehensive scheme aims to bridge the critical gap between traditional education and industry requirements, making youth employment-ready across various sectors.

Launched with the vision of “Housing for All” in the skills domain, the scheme targets the state’s youth in the 14-35 age group, providing them with free vocational training aligned with current market demands. This initiative aligns with the broader national vision of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India) and complements central schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), under which Uttar Pradesh has trained over 24.73 lakh candidates to date.
The scheme specifically addresses the skill gap faced by various demographic groups, with 30% targets earmarked for women, 20% for minorities, and special provisions for persons with disabilities and vulnerable sections. Under the latest PMKVY 4.0 initiative, more than 93,000 individuals in Uttar Pradesh have enrolled in futuristic job roles, including Drone Service Technician, AI-Machine Learning Engineer, Electric Vehicle Service Technician, and Solar PV Installer.
